Frequently Asked Questions
Margarita Lypiridou Art Studio is located in the heart of the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. Some of the pieces were made in Montreal, Canada, where Margarita lived for close to 20 years.
Of course! To schedule a visit, please send an email to margaritalypiridou@gmail.com to set up an appointment. I look forward to welcoming you to my studio and showing you my artworks.
The cost of shipping is indicated in the “handling” section of your order form, and therefore included in the final bill. This amount is determined based on the location of the collector and on the size and weight of the packaging of the artwork.
After placing your order, you will receive a confirmation email from margaritalypiridou@gmail.com (please check your spam folder). It may take 10 to 25 working days for your artwork to arrive at destination. Please keep in mind that all original artworks (except works on paper) departing Greece must be stamped by the National Gallery in order to obtain an export permit as a contemporary work of art, thus verifying it as a non-cultural object/antiquity. Next comes the secure packaging of the artwork (custom-made shipping crate or box). Then it will be shipped via a courier company. Please note that shipping times vary depending on where you are located.
Different countries have different rules about import duties and taxes, and these charges can vary depending on where you are located and the cost of the artwork you are buying. As the person receiving the artwork, you will need to take care of any international custom or import fees. If you want to avoid any surprises, it's a good idea to get in touch with your country's customs offices to find out about any additional costs that you might need to pay. This way, you will be prepared and aware of all the expenses involved.
Once shipping arrangements are made with the courier, you will receive an email notification informing you of your package's shipping status and tracking number. A signature is required upon receipt of your package, so please make sure someone is there for the delivery. If you are unable to have someone present at the time of delivery, please contact the courier to make alternate arrangements, such as picking it up yourself, or having them deliver on another day.
If you have a change of heart (sad, but it happens), you have 7 days from the date of reception to advise us in writing that you would like to return the artwork. You then have an additional 7 days to pack and ship it back to us by a recognized courier, at your own expense. The artwork must be returned in its original packaging and in the same condition as when it was shipped. It is important, therefore, to take care when both unpacking and repacking your artwork. Once the painting has been received at the studio, it will be carefully inspected for damage. If the painting is in good shape you will receive a refund for the price of the artwork minus the shipping and handling expences (please note that even in the case of artwork with free shipping, the amount of 18% will be held for shipping and handling). Or, if you wish, you may receive a credit for future purchases from margaritalypiridouart.com for the value of the artwork. The original shipping cost will not be reimbursed. Please, bear in mind, that Works on Paper cannot be exchanged or returned.
In the very rare occurrence that the artwork appears damaged, contact us to report the incident and email images of the damaged packaging and artwork to margaritalypiridou@gmail.com. Please keep all original packaging, as the artwork must be returned in it, even when damaged. It is important, therefore, to take care when both unpacking and repacking your artwork. Once the painting has been received at the studio, it will be carefully inspected, the shipping company will be contacted and you will receive a credit for future purchases from margaritalypiridouart.com for the value of the artwork.
Yes, commissions are welcome! You may have seen something you like that is already sold or is the wrong size for your space. A commissioned artwork will never be a copy, but it will be in the same style.
A little more about the commission process below:
As a first step, send a commission request in writing to margaritalypidou@gmail.com with your specifications, for example the painting or series of paintings on the website that inspired you, the size you want, favourite colours etc. Don’t forget to include your full name and address.
Once we have reviewed your commission request, we will provide you with a personalised quote for the artwork. The quote will include the full price plus the shipping cost. You will be required to make a deposit of 25% of the value of the artwork to confirm your order. We will send you payment instructions for the deposit.
Margarita will begin the process of creating a unique artwork based on your specifications. The time for completing the artwork is on average 4-6 weeks, depending on the complexity and size of the piece. Once close to completion, we will send you photos of the artwork for your review and approval.
If you are satisfied with the result, Margarita will finish the artwork and send you a final photo. At this point you will have to pay the balance owing of 75% plus shipping costs.
If you are not satisfied, you can request small adjustments once. After the adjustments are made, another photo will be sent to you. If you are happy with the result you will have to pay the balance owing of 75% plus shipping costs.
In case you are still not satisfied, we will keep the 25% deposit and the commission will be annulled.
All paintings are sent with the final invoice, ready to hang, wired and with painted edges.
If you have any further questions or you are ready to begin the commission process, please send an email to: margaritalypiridou@gmail.com
